In this comprehensive 4-hour class introduction to the Handgun discipline. We cover the profound responsibilities that come with owning any firearm platform focusing on pistols.
If you want to begin the journey of obtaining a Conceal Carry Permit or (PTC in NJ), this class has the vital basic concepts to achieve that goal. Within the curriculum we cover, firearm safety protocols, pistol platforms/parts (striker fired, hammer fired, revolvers), actions, size (how that makes a difference in your choice of pistol), magazines (IT IS NOT a CLIP!!), ammunition differences (how that matters), iron sights, optics, safe firearm storage/safes, your specific physiology, stance, neutrality, grip, sight alignment, sight picture, target shooting differs from defensive shooting and most of all MINDSET.
Once the curriculum part of the course is complete, we will set up a target in your home and use S.I.R.T. training laser clone pistols to implement the fundamentals of pistol shooting. No previously owned pistol is needed to attend this class.
After this class is completed, we will schedule a Live Fire Training 1 on 1 session for additional fee.

Implementing Foundational skills in a live fire setting. Booking this live fire session, we will ensure safe gun handling skills focusing on mastering the basics that transcends to proficiency. We will tackle physiology understanding the "how" and "why" behind it all, letting the student realize the key role to creating competency for beginners and experienced shooters alike. Once class is booked for training, we will contact you to schedule range location in Easton Pa or Lakewood NJ depending on student’s resident state.

Defensive Innovations understand the process to obtaining your NJ Permit to Carry has many challenges that can be answered with teamwork, communication, accurate information and with relevant instructors that are not stuck in the past. We know that it's not what you did, but what are you doing now that makes the difference in transferring real time knowledge and training. We hammer home the importance that it's not the end game of training,but just the beginning....
In this full 8 hour carefully crafted curriculum, we comprehensively cover defensive shooting discipline and why it is not target shooting. In detail, we lay out how it impacts our conceal carrying training regimen, responsibilities, accountabilities, gear, storage, vehicle protocols, clothing, situational awareness, conflict avoidance, after defensive action protocols, drawing fundamentals, "New Jersey Use of Force" including NJ Conceal Carry Interim-Training guidelines and [CCARE] Civilian Carry Assessment and Range Evaluation with Shooting Qualification requiring a minimum score of 80% or 40 of 50 rounds total. Students will qualify shooting 10rds at 3yds, 5yds, 7yds, 10yds, & 15yds.
We take the responsibility training students very seriously, making sure that when you walk out of our class, with our names on your certificates and SP-182 form, that we prepared you to best of our ability giving you the one-on-one attention that you deserve guiding and answering your questions accurately.
Once class has concluded, students will receive a "USCCA NJ Conceal Carry" and "USCCA NJ Use of Force" certificates. Upon passing shooting qualification, an instructor certified and completed SP-182 form will be issued to the student as well to obtain the NJ PERMIT TO CARRY.
